tears of insanity and fish

I normally don't talk about "woman troubles" here.

I think that was by design

but some days... some days I just have to say what I need to say.

to get off my chest what is bothering me

be it real or imaginary...

or maybe just intensely amplified.

You know what I'm saying?

Yeah... you know what I'm saying.

If you don't suffer from the horrible ill effects of fluctuating hormones messing up your mind.heart.soul then you know someone who does...

Right?

Yes. Just fucking say yes before I shiv your ass.

We all on the same page?

Sigh.

Good. Thank you. I was about to start tearing up. Like when I was watching SpongeBob SquarePants earlier with K... and I started to get a little misty.

Or when Mr. Kaos, that evil sonofabitch, told me the house smelled like fish.

(it soooo smells like fish because we cooked some fish that smelled like fish... sucks. But he didn't have to tell me. I already know it smells like fish... I've been febreezing the hell out of everything. I've got the vinegar out and the incense... it's a burning)

What was I saying?

Oh.. yeah. I'm just not right in the head right now.

I can't wait for the next 24ish hours to pass...

maybe I should self medicate?

the crazy one

Everyone always (and I do mean always) thinks that of the two of us (Mr. Kaos and I) I am the crazy one. There seems to be no doubt about it...

I would like to raise some doubt here babies.

We all know that I adore Mr. Kaos.

He actually worries that I discuss the love of him too much here and it may be a big bore, perhaps he would rather I talk about my love of consumer goods or my blogland girl loves more...

I've gotten off track, as I was saying we all know I love Mr. Kaos but I am just a little tired of everyone thinking that I am the crazy one.

We are at least equally crazy, though I would contend that he is crazier...

You're wondering if I have anything to back this up aren't you?

You're thinking to yourself "She's just saying that because she's the crazy one... how could that lovely man be crazier than Cami?"

It's alright, I understand how you feel... but really he is crazy.

Exhibit A: He is married to me.

but that is not what I've come to talk about.

Exhibit B: Early this afternoon I called my mom to check on them and make sure they were settling in okay (they flew home yesterday). I spoke with her for a few moments with K yelling over me "I LOVE YOU NANA!!!! TELL NANA I LOVE HER!!!". When the conversation came to it's natural end I hung up. The hang up coincided nicely with Mr. Kaos entering the room. He had been downstairs doing... things... whatever he does down in his studio, creating music, staring at things, thinking deep thoughts, fixing things for his wife and daughter...

I smiled at him thinking he was ready to be social and then the following phrase escaped his lips: "You aren't going to believe this"

What wasn't I going to believe??!!! I couldn't believe I wasn't going to believe something. I adore the unbelievable... what could it be? I couldn't guess so I peeked out the window thinking there would be something I wouldn't believe out front of the house. Nope nothing...

So I looked to Mr. Kaos and asked "What won't I believe?"

He told me "I'm going to rip out that wall"

"That wall" is a reference to a wall in the basement that has separated an incredibly small space that was slated to be my art studio from his much larger but still not big at all music studio.

For years he insisted I had to have that small studio space so I could have a space of my own... only after trying it for a month or two I found I never used it. It was much too small. There was no room to do anything except use my computer and since I have a laptop I can do that anywhere I want.... why bother doing it in the cold basement?

So all the time he's spent trying to get me to make the room my own, I've spent trying to convince him to knock out the wall between the two rooms so that he would have a nice sized music studio. It seemed we would be at a standstill forever...

Until just a couple of hours ago...

What makes him crazy is that he just went back to work from a vacation when he did nothing relaxing at all, my mom and dad just left and were here for three weeks and there hasn't been time to do anything except sleep for 8 hours and that man is already ready to press forth on another remodeling project...

He was wrong about something though; I totally did believe it.

getting on with it...

I am trying oh so desperately to move on with the year... I know there are only a few days left and I need to break free from this holiday crazy thing.

You see now that the "holiday" is over I have to find a place for everything.

5 year olds, they get a lot of stuff for Christmas. When you factor in Santa, Mrs. Claus, The Elves, Nana&Papa, Grandpa&Grandma, Great Grandma, The other Great Grandma, Mom&Dad, Aunt&Uncle, the other assorted would be Aunt&Uncles and other random magically appearing gifts from friends, cousins and my hair stylist (am I the only person on earth with a hair stylist who gives my child presents?) it adds up to a lot.

Combine that with the sudden need Mr. Kaos had to rip a wall out of K's closet to check into something, the fact that there are two additional adults occupying the space that the 3 of us normally share and all the usual insanity around the Kaos house and you have a big.fricken.mess.

Plus K got My Sims for the Wii and um.... I've been helping her with it.

Then put the big ol cherry of my brand new toy on top... things have been a little crazy.

I'm trying to bring it down. I'm trying to get things organized, sorted, calm.

Oh how I want things to be organized, sorted and calm.

Before the whole organized and sorted thing can happen though I have to make another trip to IKEA to set K up with a brand new closet, get a curtain and other organizy type things for the bathroom and um... yeah, eat some Swedish Meatballs with french fries and gravy.

Yes, consumer whore cami is in full effect ladies and gentlemen...

Oh did I mention my fab new boots and scarf??

did you miss me?

Did you miss me?

Did you notice my complete and total absence from the mighty land of interwebs???

Oh okay, I wasn't really GONE gone. I was so totally here. Sneaking and peaking and doing naughty things with your lawn ornaments...

I read some blogs, listened to some shows but more importantly I did get some work done around here... and for every BIT of work I got done the Mr. got a LOT of work done. And we ate sushi.

And while I intended to say we didn't freaking barbecue, not a weekend goes by that I don't toss something good on the grill so, yeah, we did a little bit of that too.

So you must all be thinking that I have a toilet in my main floor bathroom now right? Isn't that what I was doing this weekend? Installing a toilet... Well Mr. Kaos is sitting in bed next to me, I on my laptop and he on his (sexy isn't it?) lets ask him if there is a toilet in the main floor bath and see what he says... hold on I want to quote him exactly:

"Why are you asking me that? That's not fair. What the hell is your problem? Don't do something funny about it, we're working really hard on that thing you know what I'm sayin?"

That is an exact quote.

As you may have guessed there is not a toilet (or a sink) in my bathroom. There is however a great place for the toilet to sit.

You see we had to get the drywall in before we put in the toilet... but in order to get the drywall hung we really needed to solve a problem with the vent...

This is what it's like having an old house.

We had to fix the vent issue because once the drywall was hung we wouldn't have access to the ducts... and if we don't have duct access we certainly can't fix the vent...

Savvy?

Makes sense?

It should. Cause we spent the weekend doing it. And installing a vent thing too.

Tomorrow... into each life a little music must fall...

the fear sets in...

Um... today is a big day here.

a scary day.

You see until this moment I had complete faith in my darling Mr. Kaos' perfection in all things related to the universe. Seriously, he has never let me down. That's a big thing to live up to and well, he's scared.

His being scared, that scares me.

Because soon, very very soon, after many delays Mr. Kaos is going to shut off the water and switch over to the all new pipes.

Water is gonna go off.

That means no water to the one bathroom that is working.

Yup.

Until he gets it back on.

Now I have almost complete faith that this is going to go smoooooooth as silk and that Mr. Kaos will have the water up and running better than ever in a few tiny little hours.

I have almost complete faith (in him.... not that other faith based stuff).

I say almost because my faith in this project is nearly complete. It was complete except that he is really nervous and though I have spent the week rallying his spirits and telling him how much faith (there is that word again) I have in his abilities to not fuck things up, I have to tell you his sheer amount of uncertainty is a little bothersome.

Maybe he is just being dramatic so I can be more excited for the big finish...

You think?

fight the good fight...

Today is probably not gonna be pretty.

Soon everyone in the house will shower and use the bathroom in preparation for the big water shut off of August.

In honor of this even I am going to share with you e-mail I exchanged with a good friend (and neighbor) yesterday:

CK to I: Hey, in a very exciting visit to the basement last night Mike discovered that there is yet another in a long line of leaks. Excitement! This means that he will be turning off the water tomorrow so I was wondering if you guys are going to be around if K or I really needed to use the bathroom could we use yours?? And on the really AWFUL chance that Mike doesn't have the water back up by Sunday can we maybe borrow your shower.

Old houses are fun!

:}

I to CK: (Okay, actually I feel like it is an invasion of her privacy to send you the bit that she wrote... I didn't realize I would think that until I began to paste it, but um... yeah, I feel like it is creepy. Basically she said we could just have a key because she is that good a friend and understands that when Mr. Kaos rips something out he gets down with it).

CK to I: THANK YOU GODDESS OF RELIABLE PLUMBING.

**********

A couple of you have sent me links to your DL postcards... if any more of you want to post them let me know and I will link them up too... On the flip side if you want to see the postcards I sent to others check out the link to your right.

Hopefully when Mike is done withe the fixing of the plumbing we will not have these issues anymore... it is all the old stuff that leaks... the new stuff seems to be holding tight. (crossing my fingers toes and hair)
