give me ice cream or give me...

No, I don't have an alternative... I think it's just GIVE ME ICE CREAM.

Please.

I said please damn it... now how long is this going to take?

You see late last year just a few blocks from my house a little ol house that had been home to some sort of salon was sold and purchased and torn down. In its place a 3 unit brick building was erected. In the middle unit a FedEx Kinkos was installed.

That's fine. It's for shipping and copying and stuff... I'm sure at some point I will be THRILLED to have it there...

To either side of it though the doors have remained closed. The units empty.

It's on the 2nd busiest street in my neighborhood so I wasn't to vexed about it... it's all businesses on that street... though I was a little bothered that no allowance seemed to be made for parking... The people of this neighborhood are big walkers so I'm not concerned about us and our cars... but I am a little worried about others and their cars and the fact that it's already a busy intersection without good visibility to one side... and asshole drivers tend to ignore the big crosswalk with the school crossing sign... and there's a lot of speeding...

But that's not the point of this post, so lets get back to it shall we? As I was saying with the exception of the shipping/ printing shop the units have remained empty...

Until last week... last week when I saw some ice cream freezers being moved into the unit on the corner... Oh ice cream freezers... I know you well. I love you and your vast ice cream containing space.

I'd heard rumors that we'd be getting a gelato place in that location but I didn't dare to hope. To dream. I didn't want to hold my breath only to go blue in the face and discover it was another damn doggy boutique going in... But with the ice cream freezers in place I felt safe in the knowledge that something good was going to happen... I started to get my hopes up a bit.

Then today as K and I made our way home from school I saw it... the sign that said it all.

Oh..

I should tell you what it said shouldn't I?

It said: Staccato Gelato.

STACCATO GELATO!

I've never been to Staccato Gelato before but I think I've heard good things... and after a quick review of their website I see that the other location has fresh made donuts all weekend. and coffee. and gelato. LOTS of gelato.

I need it to open soon before I explode...

um...

because my kid see...

she really likes that kind of thing.

I'm glad you are looking out for your kid, yeah, looking out for your child.

Too bad it won't have the Steven Colbert ice cream though. Is there still a shortage in your neighborhood?

Yum! We just got a frozen custard/gelato shop and I'm in heaven. But, it's not within walking distance, that would ROCK!

My experience to gelatto is relegated to one drunken weekend in Vegas, but can't say I liked the stuff then. But whatever floats your boat.

DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN!!!

a child without ice cream is like a day without sunshine. we have a lot of those over here, so i make *up* for it by giving the children *more* ice cream. i have heard that's what you're supposed to do. isn't it?

mmmmmm donuts...
mmmmmm gelato...
mmmmmm if they make coffee they probably also make tea...

OH! OH! OH!

Best thing ever:

Vanilla Gelato
Guinness on tap

Guinness float. AKA: super-yummy-happy-goodness.

Seriously.

I will Twitter this weekend after having my first one poured... as a toast to you.

Popped over from David's.

I know the feeling. I have a marvelous ice cream shop just down the street. Luckily, I have to walk uphill to get there (as well as uphill on the way back; this is the truth) so that stops me from just gorging myself every day of the week.
