let's make music

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

With Thanksgiving a fading dot on the rear view mirror of the 2007 holiday season I feel like it's time to get down to business.

Holiday business.

And the first order of Holiday business is going to be the 2007 Kaos Holiday Lyric Contest.

Oh. yeah.

Mr. Kaos suggested this little contest and boy am I ever excited!

So without further ado let's get started...

Have a listen to this lovely little diddy Mr. Kaos composed and then review the rules... I'll wait... have a listen...

You may have noticed that the music was a little sparse. We're only giving you the bare bones melody so the rest of the music will be a surprise upon the song's big reveal (hint: think polka!).

If you need to download a copy to listen to obsessively until it's running through your veins like a holiday drug go here.

And now for the rules:

1. Each entry requires a title, a chorus, and a minimum of 2 verses (though we encourage more!).
2. Entries must be received by end of day Friday November 30, 2007.
3. By entering your lyrics you give consent for us to record perform and present your lyrics with this song in any way we see fit, though you will always be credited.
4. The winners (there will be 1 in each category) will each receive a $25 gift certificate to either amazon.com or itunes.
5. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges.

And now you need to write!

Songs must be submitted in one of two categories: Naughty or Nice. If it isn't Nice, and by Nice I mean child and family friendly then it's Naughty... If it's going to be Naughty... make it NAUGHTY. You may submit one song for each category.

Lyrics do not have to contain Christmas content they can be about what ever holiday you celebrate, but it must be a winter holiday or about the winter season.

When you have your lyrics ready please email them to me at: mommifiedme at gmail dot com with the subject line: Holiday Lyric Contest.

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges and when all songs have been read, re-read and drunkenly sung at high volume our winners will be chosen.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Feel free to comment here or send me an email...

Now go on, get started... this song isn't going to write its self.

What an awesome idea. I love contests, and this is one of the most fun and original I have ever heard of.

I am off to think naughty lyrical thoughts...

Mr Fab: Yeah, luckily I married a composer or I would never be able to pull this off :) You should pimp it though... I worry no one will submit and it won't be much of a contest if it's just you vs. yourself.

Lisa: When I'm an olllllld lady I will have that photo on my wall and I will force my grandkids to look at it and scream at them how hot I once was ;)

Mie: What are you talking about, you already submitted a nice one.

Sybil: I can't wait for us to be judgmental together.

and who exactly is on this panel?

Oh crap, I was afraid you would want me to pimp it LOL. Now I won't win.

No worries, I've got your back!

I'm like BW, how do we know the panel is impartial, name the panel please.

CamiKaos said...

The Panel is currently The Composer: Mr. Kaos, The Internet Personality: CamiKaos and Polka Expert: Sybil Law.

We intend to invite President Reid to consult as well and K will help judge all "Nice" entries.

How's them apples?

Daddy: PS. I never said the panel was going to be impartial ;)

A bit musically challenged around here, but I think it's a great idea for lots of more talented folks.
Cheers

Oh exciting. I will try. I'm so lovely like that. Even though Bert is evil. How are you doing with Bert sweetie. He is bad.

You folks are being ugly. I like the note of "E", personally. (Spoken in a fake Scottish accent, and acting a bit snooty.)

And, BTW, FU, you bunch of silly chaps!
XOXO!

That is a great idea! Hope you get lots of good entries. Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to come up with one.

G'day Cami (and Mr Kaos as well)

What a great concept. I'll publicise this later today.

Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving.

David: Thank you so much! I'd appreciate the traffic, people seem so excited but so far only 3 entries! And my thanksgiving was lovely.

Landismom: I understand. For some reason though I can write a great many things I can not come up with lyrics.

nostrandb: um yes. hello.

Jo: I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Troy: I am waiting. Where's my song?

Maddy: I'm hoping the entries will be so much better than the tripe I could come up with.

ALL OF YOU: Just a note, my dad had some questions about the judges and judging. I wanted to let you know that the names of the entrants will be separated from their song for the judging. I will probably know who sent what but I will try to forget. the other judges however will not know who submitted what song. I hope that will make it a little more fair.. although at the moment I only have 3 entries from 2 people... so unless you all hop on the songs the prizes will be pretty easy to distribute.

I'm really hoping to submit something. Maybe I'll stay up late one night to get it done!
