We have taken to watching movies in bed this week. I don't know what about this week has spurred this on but it seems to be the thing to do... so we're doing it.
Last night's selection: Star Trek First Contact.
I could say a great deal on this subject. I could for instance tell you that Mr Kaos, even though he is a big Star Trek fan, can't help himself from calling it First Contract. Or I could tell you that when he was in Vegas last year he bought me a Star Fleet Academy t-shirt which is unnaturally comfortable. It's also my favorite shirt to sleep in and it's also Mr Kaos' favorite shirt to stare at my boobs in as it fulfills his love of my boobs and star trek all at once. That really has very little to do with the movie though since I was not wearing that t-shirt at the time.
But as we were watching the movie we noticed how the crew went about their daily business and Mr Kaos commented that it was terribly unrealistic because OBVIOUSLY everyone on the ship would have their ipod out and would be rocking out to their favorite music...
I on the other hand noted that they looked terribly unhappy and I thought that ipods would probably be banned on ship because they wouldn't be able to hear orders.... suck-pods on the other hand, or rub-pods depending on how you like it, could be used so discretely that no one would ever notice they were using them except by the smile on their face...
I think Apple is missing out on a really important market there...
****
Late late edit... as I was skulking around over at Mr. Fab's I went over here and look what I saw.... did you look? Now it isn't quite what I had imagined under those Star Trek uniforms... not discreet enough to wear during your post in the transporter room or anything... but it's a good start. Now what about the suckpod?

rings...
Last night as Mr and I sat smooching and holding hands we smiled looking at our weddings bands... yes we are that crazy... We marveled at how pretty any shiny they are, well okay I did, he probably thought something very manly. As we sat there pressing our rings together, like we sometimes do, we talked about something we haven't discussed in a long time.
Why did we get identical rings?
The answer? There was just something right about it for us and we fell so easily upon a design that looked equally perfect against my delicate fingers as it did on his rough masculine hands that it only made sense, though we used the following 2 reasons to back it up:
1) Years later when Mr. Kaos is smooching me in a quiet restaurant and people say "What is that dirty old man doing with that hot young thing?!! Some one should tell his wife" they might notice that our wedding bands match and instead think "How sweet, they still love each other after all those years"
2) If we are ever caught in the Conundrum episode of Star Trek Next Generation where the crew found parts of their memories and computer records erased we would be able to easily ascertain that we are married to one another and not to Ro Laren or Will Riker.
and yes, I wrote this whole mushy post just to work in the Star Trek reference... but it's all true just the same...

beam me up nut job...
I know it's been all over the news so I will be surprised if any of you haven't heard about Oregon Representative David Wu's bizarre speech about Klingons & Vulcans in the White house and how we shouldn't allow the "Faux Klingons" who "have never fought a battle of their own" to send real Americans off to war.
I have a few things to say here.
First: He isn't necessarily wrong, but is there a way he could have voiced his opinion with out the Trek spin on the matter? I mean come on, I sleep in my Star Fleet Academy t-shirt (thank you Mike it is super soft) but I wouldn't shove it in the face of the House of Representatives...
Second: Thank you Mr. Wu for making Oregonians look even crazier to the rest of the world than we already look.
Third: Am I wrong about this? The man is passionate about his politics and he is also passionate about his Trek. Is that so wrong? I kind of think it is (not the passions, the combining of them). While Trek is a classic American cultural touchstone it is also a fictional television show. How would I feel if politicians started comparing our current political climate & dealings to American Idol, That 70's Show, Gilmore Girls or Smallville? I would feel like I live in a world of political lunacy...
Oh my... there is the point of all this... We DO live in a world of political lunacy...
