only once

It hangs in the back of a seldom used closet, zipped up tight in a garment bag.

The most expensive piece of clothing I've ever owned, it was $395 on sale, the most expensive piece of clothing I've ever owned and I haven't worn it in almost 7 years.

I remember when I saw it though, it was exactly what I wanted but not at all what I expected to want... with its smooth cream bodice and its beautiful full skirt. When I put it on I knew it was the one for me.

My wedding gown was beautiful, but it was only for a day. My marriage will last a lifetime.

This post was written in response to David's question on Weekend Wandering; Do you have an item of clothing that you haven't worn for more than a year?

If you'd like to answer this on your blog please link back to David's Weekend Wandering post and leave him a comment to let him know. While you're letting people know... leave me a comment to let me know as well... I'd love to see what you have to say.

I would have said a pair of size 16 (uk) trousers I bought 3 years ago in a moment of aberration and have never been able to get into ... but I put them on yesterday :) The wedding dress is a fabulous one, mine is in the dressing up box ... twenty years ago today!

ps Are you running away to sea with me? I'm putting David in a kilt ...

Oh, sweet post Cami. I'm supposed to wear my mom's wedding dress I think...but I haven't been the size my mom was for her wedding since I was like 13. And she was a B cup and I'm a DDD so the top half of it would have to be like, quadrupled in size....I don't want to think about this anymore!

Ah well.... that is excusable! You wouldn't be wearing it again but you wouldn't want to part with it either!

I remember how lovely you looked in it. I'd have proposed myself if it wasn't a bit too late.

I just had the oddest moment on your blog. I got this new computer and didn't have the favs (long story) and I was just getting around to setting them up and getting back to my reading...and I entered your address and got the old post where your motherboard was fried and you were about to leave for Disneyland and I was totally in the twilight zone for a full minute. I'm slow. Anyway, missed you and loved the post. You guys are so cute. And I know those boots were underneath - w

That dress can be there for K, if she wants it, too!
And we can cry like old, cheesey moms at our kid's weddings.
You are so lovely.

Loverly for sure.

Isn't it strange how what we think we want isn't always what grabs us? I was sure I'd get something plain & cut it short but ended up with a mass of sequins and a bustled train. But Stu lost his mind over it so what could I do?

Wanna wear them to the tiki party? heh.

Oh that was gorgeous. And it looks so you, even though it's not black or vamp or anything. Beautiful and perfect. You both look gorgeous.
