frustration...

I try not to be frustrated here (unless those frustrations include melodrama or hilarity) but today that is all there is.

This frustrated shell of a mom whose kid is not adjusting terribly well. Who begs not to go to school. Who is angry that she must be woken at such an early hour (who wouldn't be 6:30 is harsh and I don't like it either).

I don't have much for you all today so I will instead pose a question:

How fucking early do you have to get up? What time do you have to go to bed to get enough sleep to NOT be a zombie when you roll freezing, miserable and evil out of bed?

Oh, that was two questions. Forgive me.

Poor little K. I hope it changes for her.

And you up at 6:30? I never want to ever see that.. I know how you are in the am...

The ass crack of dawn is when I get up... 4:45am. Out of bed by 5am.

I am usually dead asleep by 9:30pm. In bed by 8 reading or watching TV.

I keep telling you I'm an old lady.

see, working nights, I live on the reverse side of things. It makes it kind of hard to answer those questions.
I feel the frustration, though. I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate
mornings when I have to get up that early. Tomorrow I have to, for a class. And I will be cranky about it.

oh dear.....
yes...I have to wake my girl each morning too. I wake her at 7:15 and we are out of the house by 7:30. I am not sure the quick dress and comb of hair is fun, but...I'd rather her get more sleep. She watches curious george while I man handle her to get her ready.
I crawl out of bed at 7. LOL I shower at night. So there is 15 minutes for me and 15 for her.
it sucks...but I think we have a routine going now.
Girl is in bed by 8:15 pm and I try to be in bed by 11pm.
Sorry things are sucky right now for you! I hope it gets better!

BW: yes but now I am getting old too. I was in my bed by 9 and I wasn't even doing something fun.

M: I'm sorry bout tomorrow :(

Corey: Does she eat where she is going? I would let K sleep in til 7 if I didn't need to feed her breakfast but it takes FOREVER and a week for her to eat anything...

Ahh Cami.

It takes some getting used to but you will.

Miss M is up around 6.00am anyway but we usually leave E till 7.00am on a school day.

We only have one car which Mr B needs for work, but I'm lucky in that my mum takes E to school, so I just have to have E ready, not me and M.

I hate hate hate mornings.

I get up at 5:30 so I can drive an hour and a half to work. Then I drive that same hour and a half home and am in bed by 9:30. I suck.

Let me know when you find the answer. Mornings tend to suck no matter what time I go to bed! And the feeding the kid thing... don't even get me started!!!!!
Sucks being tired and grumpy and NAGGY in the morning, but it's what I have to do!

We get up at seven here, primp and prep for thirty-five, forty minutes, and go in order to get the girls across town to school (We're in SE; school's in NE) on time.
I try to get to bed by midnight, midnight-thirty. Seven hours seems to be enough to thwart my rotten-mood indicator.

hmm do I even want to comment on this one?? I get up whenever Squidge gets up, 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 and if the gods are really nice I get to sleep until 10. I'm a lazy sack of shite that has trained her one year old that she best stay in bed until 8! I'll pay for it when she goes to school and I have to go back to work. Although I think school starts at 9am here so maybe we can still sleep til 8!
I'm NOT a morning person and because I'm not working and I don't have to concentrate really hard on anything other than taking care of my daughter and I can nap when she does I usually end up going to bed around 3am and I'm usually up by 8:30(sometimes later)so about 5 hours.

Welcome to the adult (parenting) life. I do feel for you and even though I was gone alot, NK had to suffer through much of what you are now having to deal with.

I just wish we could be closer to help you now that we have the time.
As you well know, we used to get up at 4:00AM. Now of course (and this will piss all of you working people off) we get up around 8AM. But we deserve the extra time.

Ah - I remember them days when I would have to get up early to send daughter off to school. I got up at 6:AM

Thank God daughter is grown now. So these days I sleep as late as 6:05 - 6:30.
Oh dont look at me that way.. I saw that. ;-)

I have the worst attitude about both going to sleep and getting up in the morning. I'd probably stay up 'til 4am every night if I could, even though I have to get up by 7 if I want to have even a chance at getting to work on time. I've been trying the tactic lately of reminding myself that sleep is a good thing, something to be looked forward to and not put off.

We're up at 6. On days that I work I need to get all 4 ready and out the door by 7:15. If I don't work then the 2 older ones get up and get ready and me and the babies get up and lounge in jammies until about 9:00. Either way, I'm usually in bed and sleeping by 9:30.

I hope she adjusts soon!

I get up at 6:15 when I'm home and 5:30 when I stay at The Boy's house. Too damn early, if you ask me.

Right now, we get up around 8 usually, but next year that will change when Viv starts school. I am NOT a morning person. I have to work early the next two weeks-NOT HAPPY.

This year, Alex is up at 6:30, and leaves for school at 7:30 (he walks; needs to be to his high school by 8 am).

I wake up between 6:30 and 7 (and that's sleeping in for me - I *was* the first one up at 6 am), and get Zoe up between 7 and 7:30 for an 8:15 departure (later if we're not catching the bus.)

What time does school start for K?

We start prodding kids at 7:00 am, they're moving by 7:15; food, clothing, the daily "what-the-heck-do-you-want-for-lunch" argument and hair combing between 7:30 and 8:00. Out the door by 8:10.

We have to allow lots of time for kids standing in hallways staring blankly at stuff.

Oh wait, maybe that's me.

yes....my girl eats at her preschool. if not for that....she eats a granola bar and dried fruit or something along those lines in the car. LOL
Can K eat and walk to school? tee hee....
I hope you are finding a solution.
hugs!

Wow, thank you all so much for your commiseration and support.

Corey: She has to sit down and not see any sort of stimuli at all to eat. She is THIN because the two least important things to her are eating and sleeping... except in the morning when sleep is some sort of religion for her. We'll get there. Today I made "sugar rice" and she ate it, yesterday an omlette... Mr. Kaos couldn't even believe I was capable of making eggs at 7am

Troy: I do alot of blank staring the first few hours of my day too.

Betsy: 8am, did I already tell you? The schools share bus service so while the other school with our bus starts at 9 we start at 8

Thordora: I'm with you, mornings make me hostile.

Julie: Wow, the boy is worth getting up earlier!!! He's a find. ;)

Lori: Oh, lounging in Jammies.... that is my dream. It was an everyday event this summer and I miss it so.

Holmes: My daughter is like that. She inherited Mr. Kaos' opinion that sleep gets in the way of getting things done and my desire to sleep until noon... it is a dangerous combo in a 5 year old.

Daveman: yes... your sleeping late is my dragging myself and family out of bed.

daddykaos: I would growl at you but I know that was sincere... speaking of being far away Mr. Kaos wants to know when we can expect holiday plans... And we wish you were hear too. But not just for the help. I need someone to drink martinis and play wii golf with me.

Flutter: You said it sister.

Lindy: I always love to hear from you

Mel: That is quite a trek in the morning, but the girls' education is important...

Syb: ugh.

Kami: That is one of the reasons I am so glad I don't live in Cali anymore... Commuting there is a given. Although Mr. Kaos has to commute too but that is the price we pay for living in a community that rocks.

Jo: I will, get used to it? Are you sure? suck.
